Please insert Photoshop CS4 into drive…
I’m having quite a difficulty in installing Adobe Photoshop CS4. It always asks me to “Please insert Photoshop CS4 into drive H:\ to continue installation.
Here are the facts. In downloaded Photoshop through rapidshare.com, in http://rapidshare.com/users/8MSLNE. It took a couple of hours to download the file but it was way faster than getting it from Torrent. I unzipped it and was finally able to extract the installation file. The file was saved at my H drive, a partition in my secondary hard drive.
After accepting the terms and conditions, it asks you if you have the serial number or if you want to try the program for 30 days. Since this isn’t a legal version and I don’t have the license, I chose the trial version. But ‘lo and behold, you get the error message.

I checked Google and it seems that this is a common issue. Even Adobe recognizes this problem in their KB article.
Being a technician, I have tried the following.
1. Save the installation file in another partition
2. Save the installation file in the root drive or in C:\
3. Save the installation file in a CD
4. Uninstalling Photoshop CS3
The only that I haven’t tried is to totally wipe out the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP. I’m on the brink of doing that because I think my PC has a virus. It’s slow at certain times. But of course, I want to see it there are other options. I have other Adobe CS 3 programs installed when I was trying to put in CS4, so that might be what the KB article suggests.

The solution to this problem is to copy everything from your cd (iso or whatever) to a folder on your harddisk.
Run the install from there and it should work. Don’t mount anything.

DO NOT ENTER SERIAL DURING INSTALL.
Install as TRIAL
Then update with Serial after installation is complete
That’s the problem.

For all those who are getting “please insert photoshop cs4 into d:\ drive” I have found the answer for you:
Edit your Photoshop CS4 ISO file (using UltraIso, etc).
Create a new root-level folder called “Adobe CS4″ and move all the existing files/directories into this folder
It will now look like this:
D:\Adobe CS4\setup.exe
D:\Adobe CS4\payloads\
D:\Adobe CS4\extensions\
etc
Change the volume label to “Photoshop CS4″
After I did this it installed like a charm from the “D:\” virtual drive

Sorry I’m a noob at making iso files.
I’m trying to make an iso like Cruasder9 said using ultra iso. But the best i can do is making an iso whith the files in the dir D:\setup.exe …
When i made a directory Adobe CS4 in the iso file it will only saw me the folders and not the setup file etc.

One more thing for ap0tol
1. Download/buy/torrent MagicISO maker
2. Start it, then click on File > Open
3. Find your *.iso of Photoshop and open it
4. Right-click on a empty surface, choose New Folder and name it “Adobe CS4″
5. Select all files on ISO except that new folder and move it to Adobe CS4 folder
6. Click on File > Save
7. Close MagicISO, mount your ISO in DaemonTools or such
8. My Computer > DVD Drive > Adobe CS4 > Setup
…and that’s it, hope it helps.

It’s called a Read Me file. little .txt document you got with it…
says to copy Master Collections to you O/S Drive, run install as demo, replace the right .dll, THEN run keygen.
have some patience about yourselves- ur learn if you pay attention.

Thanks so much Cruasder9!
It works!!
By the way:
- You CAN enter the serial using CORE’s keygen.
- You do NOT need to patch any dll’s or replace it, mainly because you will be using a “valid” serial (no need to install in trial mode).

Ok guys, here’s a much simpler solution, I myself tested it:
1) Create a Folder named C:\Adobe CS4\ then copy the installer to this folder so as to make the director contain:
C:\Adobe CS4\Setup.exe
C:\Adobe CS4\payloads
C:\Adobe CS4\extensions
and so on….
2) After copying all needed files, Run setup.exe on the that new folder, That’s it enjoy!

non of these works dear friends, i have one far better solution for photoshop cs4 extended, actually i m also suffering from this problem and today i have to prepare a panorama image for my institute’s exam, i have photoshop cs2 “older version” it doesn’t create full blended panorama image, so i decided to switch on cs4, but the same problem i have faced… Don’t worry!
Here is the solution:
download the file full photoshop cs4 extended 65 mb only!
don’t be surprised it actually delete all that files which we usually not use…. and it doesn’t need activation or serial keygen, just simple copy and paste… and i really thanks to my orkut community to gave me that link….
email me i will send you the link.

Moving to a folder is your solution? Heh not very elegant…
Here is my solution:
1. Open your Photoshop CS4 image with any software available (I recommend UltraISO)
2. Extract “payloads/setup.xml” file to your desktop.
3. Open the extracted “setup.xml” file with any text file editor (Notepad++ recommended)
4. Find and remove any instances of the words “Adobe CS4″ in the file.
5. Save the XML file.
6. Replace “payloads/setup.xml” file in your image with the edited one, and save the image.
7. Mount/burn and install as usual.

I have tried all methods suggested by above poster: Editing folder and volume label, moving it to a folder, and editing the xml file, but the please insert keeps popping up
It only pops up when it’s “Currently Installing Adobe Anchor Service CS4″. The previous steps were okay. Is this the case with everyone?
Thanks.

Hi, I extracted all files in to a folder called “Adobe CS4″ i then placed that folder into my C Drive
C:\Adobe CS4\
Inside there you got your folders and the setup.exe
Now run your setup.exe and it all works great…
Installed windows7 64bit

A thousand thanks to Cruasder9 for his invaluable info. I’ve been bustling with getting CS4 to work on my 64x Vista, moving folders, attempting to rename ect, to no avail. His exact instructions worked perfectly!
Previously, the installer would work like Dennis – stopping at the Anchor Services with the all-too-well-known message.
This made my day

With all due respect, all these solutions are a waste of time, and whether they work or not is irrelevant since they are well more complicated than the simple solution of reading the instructions which tell you to deselect everything you can before clicking install. It’s that simple.
Ain’t simple beautiful?
Enjoy

Hey. It worked for me after few tries of everything.
What i have done is:
Place installer into
D:\Adobe CS4\
Run it.
Then when it asks what components to install, install only adobe photoshop cs4 and adobe bridge cs4. Unclick every other component, which you can (some of them are ‘grey’ and you have to install them).
Hope i helped someone

I’ve tried to install Adobe.Photoshop.CS4.Extended.v11.0.Incl.Keymaker-CORE on a Windows 7 x64 platform (deselecting everything but photoshop and bridge) according to all proposed solutions and hatebreeder’s solutioun worked for me.
Note that I’ve installed the same release on a 32-bit system before (vista and xp). Based on that I think the problem occurs because the CORE-release doesn’t include all required files for a x64-system (correct me if I’m wrong). The problem was that the installer requested the installation CD, during installation of Adobe Anchor Service (Installer saying “Currently Installing Adobe Anchor Service CS4″)
Anyway, I installed the trial version downloaded from adobes website and registered it with core’s keygen according to CORE’s installation notes.
“1/ Add the following line in your hosts file located on C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts:
127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
2/ Choose Manual installation
3/ Unselect everything you can, except Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Bridge
4/ Use our keymaker to register the application.”
