Make Windows XP look like Vista

I already downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3, hoping that the GUI will be like Windows Vista. From what I have searched so far is that aside from the fixes that SP 3 provides, user’s will not see any difference in the operating system. I downloaded the file from the Microsoft website but has not installed it yet.

What I instead did was to look for a program that will turn my Windows XP to look like Vista. I found Crystal XP that offers the BricoPack Vista Inspirat Ultimate 2. It was described as:

BricoPack Vista Inspirat is a free pack which modifies Windows XP system files in order to change its appearance and make it look like Windows Vista (the next operating system made by Microsoft).

Rewarded by a lot of magazine, Vista Inspirat BricoPack is the best way to change quickly and easily your Windows icons, logon and visual style.

The file was big: 27.64 MB. Installation was fast and convenient. My computer has two hard drives: an 80 Gig for the OS and other softwares and a 250 Gig for my files. The second hard drive has five partitions, the first partition is installed with another XP. I basically use it as a tester.

My PC looks like the photo below. Aside from the LAN driver, there are no other softwares installed - no antivirus, no video driver.

You just have to follow the instructions. I did not do any customization of the installation.

In less than 4 minutes, here’s the result. I have not rebooted the system yet.

I was hoping to see the Start Search bar, but there was none. Oh well.

There is that bar on top that looks like for a Mac OS. When you select the Internet Explorer on that bar, it will automatically open up the Crystal XP Google search page. When you launch IE from the Quick Launch or Start, All Programs, Internet Explorer, ti will go to the original homepage which is MSN.com.

IE is still version 6.

Windows Media Player is still version 9.

In need of a virtual assistant? Then you might think that outsourcing is king, which it is, actually. Anyway, it’s just a matter of the right choice.
