I want to buy an Asus EEE PC
After reading Abe’s post “Top 10 Things about the Asus Eee PC,” I am more convinced that I should get myself one this year.
I have always thought of notebooks as secondary or back up PC. For me, nothing will beat the power of the desktop computers. Hey, I’ve been troubleshooting computers for almost a year now and this will definitely be your conclusion. Of course, you could customize it and put the hardware specifications that you want. But the bottom line here is desktops are more stable, functional and productive.
But here comes this 7 inch laptop, which can have either Xandros or Windows XP as the operating system. The most that you could do on it is to surf the Internet through wifi, ethernet or modem (does anyone still use dial up?). There’s no optical disk drive, and has a small storage capacity: 8 gig (or 4 in other versions) Solid State Disk, the same type of memory used in digital camera cards. It has a built in webcam, microphone and headphone jack, comes with Open Office for word processing, everything basic about computers and blogging. See the full specifications here.
Based from the videos on Youtube and pictures in blogs, the appearance itself is cute. There’s no fancy design - just plain colors white, black, pink, blue or green. I might get a green, the tauted color of Web 2.0.
One thing that stops me from buying the Asus EEE PC is they have not officially launched yet the 8.9 inches version.
But perhaps once the PC 900 comes out in the market, then a new version will be released, and a brand will definitely compete.
So let me just wait for a couple of months, wait until the price go down to less than P 20, 000.
See the Asus EEE being “abused.”
