CDR-King malfunction

Last week, I had an interesting bump in CDR King nearby. And I was lucky that I did not purchase the item.

Here’s what happened: Alongside an iPhone pillow, I asked for a tripod in our office’s exchange gift tradition. When no pillow or tripod that came on the deadline, I went to CDR King in Tanay to buy, well, a tripod. Although I can check the list which identifies who picked my name during the exchange gift, I opted not to. Kung walang regalo, okay lang.

I immediately saw a gray/semi-white tall and sturdy tripod. I asked one of the sales crew, Jennilyn, that I want to purchase one and inquired if they have one on stock. The price: P 450. After checking, she found that there was no more in-stock and the remaining item is the one on display. Okay, I’ll just purchase that, I said. I volunteered to put the tripod in the bag, but it won’t fit. The bag is too small.

Here’s the tripod that still has the price tag on it of P 450. I did not put that sticker. CDR King did.

She checked the CDR King website and found out that there are two models of the tripod, with different prices, and that the tripod that I want was mislabeled. Mine was labeled as “LN 17.” WT-3520 was at 600 while the WT-3540 is 650. I asked her if she can identify which of those two matches the one they have in the store. The poor girl cannot determine the difference.

Alin, alin, alin ang naiba. Seriously, can you tell the difference between the two?

In the end, this CDR King store in Save More in Tanay did not allow me to purchase the item. Menchie, who I do not know is a staff or a manager, said that since they cannot determine the real price of the item, they won’t sell it anymore.

On Christmas eve, in the office, then came my gift. It was, lo and behold, a tripod. It’s not exactly the model that I want, but at least its something that I can use while I try to find a way to repair my real tripod. Interestingly, the giver is the same guy who gave me last year a CDR King CD holder which, up to know, is very usable.

So it’s lesson learned. Everything happens for a reason. If it’s not really meant for you, it won’t be given to you. Kung hindi ukol, hindi bubukol.

Dude… I don’t seriously get where you’re heading with this… shouldn’t you (for the most part) argue directly to the head of operations (the owners of Cd-R King) instead of the head of distribution (the manager of that branch or the branch owner)?

Product misplacement, mismatched price listings, factory defects, limited item stocks, and damaged products within store premises are all a common occurence in all brands of things you buy in any place, at any time, in any country. I’d really give cd-r king a thumbs down if it weren’t for it’s customer support and product warranties.

If you have complaints, go on head to head… not play it all low and use the internet to vent out your problems… do that “when” the top brass of the company don’t give a damn of you complaints. Then, you can go all OJ Simpson on the company… Just like one other unsatisfied Mac user.

(if you dunno’ about that little story, then let me lay it down for you. A Mac Laptop user noticed something wrong with his laptop monitor and figured that it had to be a factory defect. He had it checked out at an apple store. They told him that the monitor was damaged and needed pay for a replacement. The guy was appalled at the idea of paying for a defect but none the less went on with the repair just because he loved the “brand”. When the laptop was up and ready for pick up, he found an additional pay for internal replacements… “the fuck’s this?” he asked the technician… and the guy goes, “well, technically you spilled coffee over your laptop, that’s what.”

Now pissed off with what he’s heard, he paid for the damn excess repair despite his arguments and sent a complaint to the Main company. No response.

In a fit of rage, he got a camcorder, gave a speech of his dissapointment with Apple’s service and got a bat and… SMASHED his laptop… then sent it into youtube. The entire internet community was outraged with apple’s move. The capitalist company, seeing it’s name thrown off a building met with the man and gave him a new laptop as an apology.)
