Tech support's Christmas wish list

With 51 days to go before Christmas, I created a wish list-things to buy before the year ends as a gift to myself for a year of working, sleepless nights and mornings.

========================
This should have been an entry
on 7:01 PM 10/28/2007 but I
wasn’t able to post it. I wrote
this last Saturday because we
had lesser than normal calls.
========================

-a high end prosumer camera. Though this has been in my list since last year, I still wasn’tNikon D40x able to buy it since this is too expensive. My brother suggested a Nikon D40 camera in Hidalgo. I guess I have to wait until January to buy that. Either I have to purchase through the yearend bonus (if there’s any) or I borrow from my utol. Tanay’s fiesta will be in the last week of January so I have to cover it.

-another hard drive for our PC. Though the computer has been working flawlessly since I reseated the memory, I still want to protect my files. What’s P 3, 000 ++ if my files will surely be intact? I have tons of pictures to save.

-an internal DVD writer. Even if there’s another hard drive, I still want to save my files in a DVD. My CDs (which is about 30 now) have scratches on it. I need to make sure that even if the HDD fails, I still have the files. I plan to burn them in two DVDs – one for access (just in case the back up HDD fails) and the other for safekeeping. You could see that I am obsessive-compulsive when it comes to file keeping. I even upload my files to my emails and in Esnips. Well, in this age of technology comes also uncertainty. Walang
mawawala sa nag-iingat.

-scanner. The cheapest that I saw was P 3, 000. I want to get rid of the three-foot newspaper clippings I have. Then save them in the HDD, then burn them in two CDs. OC talaga.

-television. I planned earlier to have my own TV, since I just stay in my room during my restdays and work on my computer. The plan then was to buy it on Oct. 15 but I thought of waiting until the prices go down during the Christmas season.

But then I still have non-electronic wish list.

-for my family to be safe always. My older brother works in New Zealand, and will migrate soon to Canada; my sister works in Dubai; my older sister is getting married; and my younger sister who has a celebral palsy. Of course, I always wish my parents well.

-a get together with my old classmates. I haven’t seen my classmates in elementary and high school for a long time now. I guess the last was in June.

-popularize my blog sites. Hopefully by 2008, www.barasrizal.com will generate
enough revenue to sustain it. I spend P 3,000 a year for my blogs (including this) and I wanted to make it as popular as johnchow or local’s yugatech.

-build my own company. Perhaps a professional consulting service on print media production. June is the daughter of the owner of a printing business. I know at least two people who are journalism graduates in UP. By the way, I noticed that people who studied in UP, at one time in their life, became journalists. Eszard was the editor of Buntala, my highschool’s Filipino newspaper. Cherry Joy, Sweet Mary and Floralaine all studied in the former Rizal Polytechnic College (now University of Rizal System) and were all staff of their high school newspapers. June was studied in UPLB and is a Communications Arts graduate. Ditto with Gold, my office mate. I do layout and photography.

-to continue an unfinished business I stopped doing since 2006. This is too personal so I won’t dwelve on this.

There are things money can’t buy. But for everything else, there’s a call center.
