Misfortunes on Good Friday
My day has never been unlucky as today, Good Friday.
First, I was almost late for my last night’s shift of 10:15 PM. Traffic was so heavy along Ortigas Ave. as thousand of devotees (or so I thought) marched from Metro Manila to Antipolo, by foot, and attend the mass. I think this has been the tradition since time immemorial but I never thought that they could occupy the whole lane of Ortigas east bound. I arrived at 10:09, just in time to prepare my tools. I left home before 8 PM.
Second, I almost lost my wallet when I stepped outside of the taxi. Since there were no jeepneys in Rosario, Pasig, I hailed a Davis taxi. Good thing that a guard noticed my wallet but perhaps because I was in the hurry, he wasn’t able to catch me since I was already waiting in the elevator. I heard a guard asking the people lined up who lost their wallet. I searched my things and realized that the wallet is lost. I went to the reception area and showed them my ID and got my wallet back. Aside from the money, there are important IDs there that I cannot afford to lose. Thanks, manong.
Third, on my way home today, the jeep that I took lost its break. He has to intentionally hit the stone wall in the zigzag of Antipolo, otherwise, we’ll go directly to the cliff. Good thing none of us 15 passengers were hurt. We transferred to another jeep.
Lastly, in San Guillermo in Morong, Rizal, the car in front of the jeep was almost hit by a motorcycle. The motorcycle hit the ground but the driver was safe. Luckily, a police was one of the passengers in the jeep we took. With presence of mind, he immediately dropped his bag and went straight to the scene of the accident.
Mahal na Araw is Malas na Araw.
