2007 election kicks off
While I was in the jeepney this morning going to the office, I noticed some posters pasted in the road blocks in Junction in Cainta, Rizal. Unmistakably, those were election posters by someone running for the highest position in the town. And when I was going home this afternoon, the message became clearer: Jules Narag for Mayor. The posters were with the message: Happy Valentines. Only a politically naive would think that this is just a mere grreeting for the Heart’s Day. Below the name are the words vMAYOR, with emphasis on the Mayor. Narag is the incumbent Vice Mayor.
Indeed, the period has began for the campaign. Though not official yet for local official, everyday is campaign day for the mayor, vice mayor and the councilors.
But if the elections were to be held today, and if the following list will be the candidates for senators:
Alan Peter Cayetano
Anna Dominique Coseteng
Antonio Trillanes
Aquilino Pimentel
Benigno Aquino
Carlos Jericho Petilla
Cesar Montano
Edgardo Angara
Francis Pangilinan
Francis Escudero
John Osmeña
Joker Arroyo,
Loren Legarda
Luis Singson
Manuel Villar
Michael Defensor
Miguel Zubiri
Panfilo Lacson
Prospero Pichay
Ralph Recto
Sonia Roco
Teresa Aquino-Oreta
Vicente Sotto III
Vicente Magsaysay
then I will vote for:
Alan Peter Cayetano
Antonio Trillanes
Benigno Aquino
Edgardo Angara
Francis Pangilinan
Francis Escudero
Joker Arroyo,
Loren Legarda
Manuel Villar
Panfilo Lacson
Sonia Roco
Those are just 11 candidates. I am reserving the last seat for the person who did not run either in the opposition or administration tickets.
Definitely, I’ll take the Dancing Queen Tessie Aquino Oreta out of the list, ditto with Chavit Singson. I would suggest Tito Sotto to just go back to Eat Bulaga. Prospero Pichay and Mike Defensor could continue to be the President’s mouthpieces.
The TV commercials that I have seen so far are that of Villar (mahalin mo ako… babae ako), Angara (ang gara ng buhay), Zubiri (bio-diesel), Osmeña (history of his family) Bacani (haven’t catch the whole political ad though), and Defensor (the corniest of them all).
