Saving up for a house
Last Sunday, my teammate who is the wife of a police was browsing bahay.ph and looking for a rent-to-own house. Currently, they rent an apartment in Novaliches.
I then realized how she is different from me. Ang sarap palang maging single. Aside from giving some money to my parents for the daily expense; my sister for the rent for the boarding house in Makati (where I stay on weekdays if I have a shift); paying electric bills for two houses and DSL subscription, I keep my own money. Well, the amount that I was able to keep in one payroll period is just about P 2, 000.
Call center agents has been perceived of being “rich” because of the hefty pay. Basic salary is P 12, 000 excluding the perks and incentives. Alongside the high salary is also the high cost of living.
Before, taking jeepneys to go to work would suffice. Now, I’d rather take a cab and pay P 100 for the fare. I have been craving for new foods now since Jolibee, McDonalds and KFC and the food in the pantry has been monotonous. I still have to test other viands in Mongolian Quicktime (which is never quick. Fastest service is 7 minutes).
I would have to save up more for the future. In 10 years time I should have a house of my own, with a car preferably.
The problem is, who gets to stay with me in the house?
